Olympic Influence

In the lull between the Olympics ending and the Paralympics beginning, I’ve come across a multitude of articles illustrating just how far reaching the influence of the Olympics really is.

It certainly never occurred to me to do an Olympic themed craft activity, however many others did think of it…

This 50 yard scarf appeared (anonymously) on the pier at Saltburn, North Yorkshire.  There are examples of most events within the Games along the length of the scarf.

While Suzanne Haggerty, London, has created a miniature version of the Olympics that is displayed in her mother’s front garden.

In Birmingham over 400 people helped to knit panels to cover the pillars of Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery in the colours of the Olympic rings.

It’s great to see everyone getting behind the Olympics whether they be watching, supporting, motivated to try a new sport or… knitting.
